Freedom to Worship God

In the winter and spring of 1607-1608, a band of Separatists found the heart to make the break with their beloved homeland. In 1620, the first group of Separatists left Leyden for Southampton, where they had arranged to join a group of friends from London. Two boats, the Speedwell and the Mayflower, had been chartered to carry the Pilgrims to the New World, but the heavily overmastered Speedwell sprang a leak and had to be abandoned.

Mayflower Ship

The length of the ship was 90 feet. There is three decks on this ship.

Speedwell Ship

The length of the Speedwell ship was approximately 80-90 feet on deck and 100-110 feet overall. There are four decks on this ship.
