Project 1 of the Lego Mindstorms Robot Inventor Kit

The objective of this project is for our robot to leave “Earth”, go around the ” Moon”, and come back. Here is video showing the objective of the project. We are going to make the board, program our robot to go around the moon, and come back to earth. (Note: in the video they use a different robot)

Making the Board

We made the board without any problems. It was easy enough to make the board, so that didn’t take very long. We just need to make the program.

Programming

We already made the robot, so all we need to do now, is program the robot. Click this link if you want to make the same robot we have. We would program it to go the same route the robot in the video took, but, as usual, this came with problems.

To start off the list of problems, we have crashing into the Moon. There were many times when we started the program, and it crashed into the moon. Next, we have losing orbit. There were many times when the robot would go to far, and it would end up crashing into things. Then, we have taking the wrong course. Many times, we would get around the moon (finally), and it would miss the Earth because it wasn’t in the right position. Thankfully, we got over these problems.

Mission Success!

We finally got our robot to go around the moon in a lollipop shape, and come back to earth! It took a while, but we were able to complete our mission! Yay teamwork!

Summary

We made the board, we made the program, and although we had many problems we got past them. We worked until we got a working program, and, of course felt like we made a huge accomplishment. Thanks for reading!
